ABOUT EMERGENT KIDS
Emergent Kids grew from a simple observation: parents are present for thousands of moments in a child’s life that no professional can ever replicate.

For a neurodivergent child, those moments are shaped by an experience of the world that the people around them may not always see or understand. Behaviour, communication, sensitivities and responses can look very different when we begin with the child’s experience rather than simply what is visible from the outside.

Our work begins there: helping parents understand their child more deeply, and giving them the knowledge to use that understanding in the small, everyday moments where connection, learning and development are already taking place.

OUR WORK
Much of our work is educational. Through articles, guides and other resources, we share ideas and knowledge that help parents understand their child more deeply and use that understanding in everyday life.

For families who would like individual guidance, we offer consultations and parent workshops, alongside occasional seminars and small-group learning opportunities.

Our workshops combine deeper understanding of the child’s experience with professional knowledge and practical application—helping parents recognise what may be happening, understand why, and know how to respond and support development in everyday moments.

THE FOUNDER
Alice Kim established Emergent Kids following more than 20 years of international experience in autism, complex needs and family support. Her career has spanned direct clinical work with children and families, service development, professional training, clinical leadership and senior government work.

She has contributed to autism and special-education policy and state-level implementation, established six specialised autism classrooms within government schools, developed and led services for children with complex needs, and trained and supported psychologists and special-education professionals across the UK, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

Beyond her professional work, she has been a long-standing advocate for autism and disability awareness. Her documentary exploring the life of a boy with an intellectual disability was screened internationally and received recognition and awards at several film festivals.
Her work today centres on the individual child—understanding their intrinsic experience of the world, and giving parents the knowledge to recognise what may be shaping their behaviour, communication, learning and everyday responses.

OUR TEAM
Emergent Kids works with professionals and collaborators from a range of disciplines whose expertise complements our work.
Our circle includes professionals on the autism spectrum, whose lived experiences shape both our understanding of how neurodivergent individuals experience the world and the knowledge and guidance we share with parents.

We work with families around the world, and our professional connections extend across different countries, allowing us to connect parents with additional specialists or services where appropriate.

LOOKING AHEAD
Many families still have limited access to the knowledge, guidance and support that could make a meaningful difference in their child’s everyday life.

Our longer-term aim is to establish the Emergent Kids Foundation, making educational resources and parent support more accessible to families and communities who may otherwise have little or no access to them.
